Volunteer Opportunities

Come be a volunteer!

Centennial Farm is a year-round facility that provides young children with the opportunity to learn more about agriculture in their lives. From October to May we host free field trips in which elementary school children get to tour our farm. Since our field trips are free, we strongly rely on volunteers to help keep our programs running. The volunteers guide the children on their tours through the farm and show them a whole new world that most of them know nothing about. Our volunteers come to us with all different levels of farm knowledge so don't worry if you're a city slicker. It's fun and easy and our main goal is for everyone to have a good time and learn a little on the way.

Volunteer FAQs

Q: Who can volunteer?
A: If you are 18 years or older and have half a day (Monday - Friday) that you can consistently be available, you are a great candidate for volunteering.

Q: What do volunteers do?
A: Volunteers provide farm tours for kindergarten through 3rd grade students. Don't worry if you lack experience, the Farm will provide you with all the training you need.

Q: What is the time commitment of a volunteer?
A: The time commitment of a volunteer is one day a week from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In this span of time you will conduct two farm tours. You can also elect to do only one tour on your designated day. Tours start at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Q: What are the physical requirements of volunteering?
A: Since volunteers guide children on tours around Centennial Farm, they need to be mobile as well as be able to bend and kneel. They should also be comfortable speaking to children and being around animals.
